Mutual Aid & Automatic Aid

Regional Cooperation & Interagency Response

Automatic Aid Agreements

The Sissonville Fire Department maintains automatic aid agreements with neighboring departments primarily for structure fire responses. These agreements are reciprocal in most cases and ensure rapid deployment of additional resources during working incidents.

Automatic aid response includes neighboring departments from Kanawha County and adjacent counties. Specific response exceptions include:

Kanawha County Mutual Aid Agreement

In addition to automatic aid, the department participates in a countywide mutual aid agreement covering all incident types. This agreement is not automatic in nature but allows departments throughout Kanawha County to respond upon request for assistance.

This framework ensures cooperative response capability across the county during major incidents, extended operations, or resource-intensive emergencies.

Partner Departments

While no formal automatic aid agreements are currently established with departments in Jackson County, the Sissonville Fire Department maintains strong cooperative relationships and responds on mutual aid when requested.

Statewide Water Rescue Deployment

The department’s Water Rescue Team has deployed throughout the State of West Virginia during major flooding events and water-related emergencies.

These deployments demonstrate the department’s operational readiness and commitment not only to the Sissonville community but to regional and statewide emergency response efforts.
