Serve. Protect. Lead.
Since 1961, the Sissonville Fire Department has served as the primary fire and rescue provider for our community. Our members protect 24,000 residents across 125.6 square miles with dedication, professionalism, and pride.
Volunteering is more than responding to emergencies — it is about commitment, leadership, and making a direct impact in the lives of your neighbors.
As one of the busiest volunteer fire departments in Kanawha County, our members gain meaningful, hands-on experience across fire suppression, rescue operations, and emergency medical response.
We welcome individuals who are motivated, dependable, and committed to serving the community.
No experience? No problem. Training is provided.
Individuals ages 16 and 17 may join our Junior Firefighter Program. Participants receive training and may respond to select incidents under supervision.
Prospective members are encouraged to attend a weekly meeting to learn more about the department and begin the application process.
